My Rainbow Valentine

My Rainbow Valentine

A Poem by -Aurelia Mirella

Wow...so this was originally made for a contest, but that person is no longer a member of the cafe. :/ Oh well...now it's for you guys. Have fun and enjoy! :]

"

My Rainbow Valentine

My dearest Valentine, this piece is for you

I want you to know how much my love for you grew

I’ve painted a rainbow in different colors and hues

In hopes that you will say that you love me just as much too

The reds stand for my burning desire to be held

In your arms only

For my lips and yours to be gelled

Never again will we be lonely

The orange and yellows are the colors of your personality

Bright, fun, and a little quirky

Loud but quiet

Humble yet a tad proud

And full of originality

The greens and blues stand for your eyes

They were the first thing I noticed about you

The colors and brightness had caught me by surprise

But somehow I knew

You wouldn’t go and put on a disguise

And worse- tell me any lies

Violet is the last of the colors

It stands for my loyalty to you

Never will I leave you

Never will I be untrue

I’ve told you all of this before

But I just wanted you to be reminded

That you are the colors in my heart

The brush that keeps on drawing

The painting that keeps on growing

You are my Rainbow Valentine.

There is something about the meshing of colors in this sense in regards to love. We have so many thoughts on this color or that color, but we always use them to break things apart - to label - and to separate. This person is a blue, this person is a red, this person is a green - as we go through breaking everything down into smaller parts and missing the whole that can be offered by viewing the colors as they work in unison and the greater meaning that can be offered by and found within them...

This is a fantastic little piece! Obviously your heart's in the right place, that's easy to tell. I think the best part about your valentine is that you don't quite give away that it might be a girl or boy. The only minor fault I can find is perhaps the green and blue eyes. Is that literally true or figurative. In which case, maybe some other color combination would be more suitable. But its so minor I couldn't care. I really love this! :)

I never thought about colors in relation to love before. I've always hated Valentines day, but somehow this poem made me view the beauty of that precious day.

Very cute! I love the concept and how you describe all of the wonderful colors(I paint, so I love em all)! Very original, but old-school at the same time. I likes!......

Truth and passion always make for a good write. When love is thrown in it gives life color.

I really loved this. It's amazing how you were able to find something for every color of the rainbow. The one thing I'd change is the spelling of "jelled" to "gelled," which I'm pretty sure is the right way to spell what you're trying to say.

Other than that, its great.

I can see this most definitely in a Hallmark card. Very sweet. :)
