A Woman

A Woman

A Poem by Ava Morgan
"

This is a poem that I wrote for a dissertation that I am writing for a school assignment about how women perceive the way they are intended to be or be seen in the world of construction under a man.

"

A Woman

I am a woman

Tranquil and sensitive as you say

I cook and clean as you portray

I am a woman

Sweet and obedient as you want

I seek no demand, I seek no escapade

I am a woman

I bare a child, I am not audacious and wild

I cuss not, I speak a tongue of politeness

I am a woman

My vessel is a shell, fragile yet hard

I fall, and I crack, yet I hatch

I am a woman

I evolve, I develop wings

I learn to fly but glide one with the wind

I am a woman

I hunt yet I eat last, I forage for my young

I strive for a beak of power but so humble in the sky

I am a woman

I dare not sit in a nest, for that is what you intend of me

I build a nest for that is what I intend to be

I am a woman

Please read this and tell me how you feel either as a woman or as a man about the influence or inspiration behind it for my dissertation that I am writing and just want to include this poem as an artistic addition to not make it feel too formal as it generally is.

This is a neatly constructed piece of poetry, which has a very nice qualified concept of self-reflection.

I really enjoyed it. Great topic, a little sassy and a lot of truth. I found myself wanting more. I love the ending. Shows the true strength of woman and how they are "expected" to be by society.
