Ghost

Ghost

A Poem by Audrey Owens

Ghost

How does a girl,
With absolutely nothing,
Get everything she craves?

First, she lets it all go,
Accepting that it will never fully be hers
To hold,
To handle,
Ever.

And then she goes for it,
Doing all that she can to make it real.

But the trick is this;
She has to freeze,
Turn into a body of ice,
Cloudy as poison.
Once she hardens her skin,
Her heart,
Her mind,
It all becomes possible.
By accepting what she will never hold on to
She transcends.
