Condemnations (A Weight To Bear)A Poem by Avale
I watched her fade, dissipate
With not one word left to say I watched her death, sinking in I held my breath, drinking in I could spend a lifetime writing Of how I let her down I could spend a lifetime screaming But never make a sound At her grave I stand Barely sure of who I am With shame, bearing failure's brand I am judged and condemned I let her go, slip away With not one word dared to say I left her there cold, alone I bore a soul not my own I could spend a lifetime writing Of how I let her down I could spend a lifetime screaming But never make a sound At her grave I stand Barely sure of who I am With shame, bearing failure's brand I am judged and condemned I bear the weight of my deeds And the sins born from those seeds I bear the shame of the day That I let her slip away I held my breath, sinking in... I could spend a lifetime writing Of how I let her down I could spend a lifetime screaming But never make a sound At her grave I stand Barely sure of who I am With shame, bearing failure's brand I am judged and condemned © 2017 Avale |
