Lost

A Poem by Brette Medb
"
Something that popped into my head late last night...take with it what you will
"

Missed conquest and eternal damnation,

Humanity lost and uncovered once again.

Your heart tied to mine in an iron chain

Doing your best to bring tears to my eyes.

It is you that has done this to me,

You that has saved me when I felt not the need

To be alive to the world once more.

The pain was too much to bear

The written world my only true friend

But here you are lying beside me

In the still of the night all seems clear.

Clear in the essence of beauty.

You are mine, well perhaps it is not so,

Perhaps I am yours?

These words halt and flow

From lips to fingertips wishing to sprout

Forth from the wings that you have given them.

I ask you for forever and you promise it so

But I know not if you truly knew me

You would promise me something untrue.

Honorable and able, those are you names

While mine is all fear and shame,

Shame that I am what I can never be

And you are all that I wish I would always see.

I am here my love, waiting and hoping

That one day you will truly be mine

But before you can promise me this

Or I you for that matter

I must trust myself and I know not how

Without you by my side.
