A Mysterious Night

A Mysterious Night

A Poem by Bhumika Devkota

As the sun sets and the moon rises,

Retiring to our beds, hoping to get rest.

As the birds chirp away and fireflies come to stay.

The water brightens, from the moonlight.

The day ends, and another begins.

We fall asleep and nightmares rises.

We turn and toss, the monsters creep.

They come in slowly, while you are deep in your sleep.

Small steps, coming near you and your feet.

You toss and turn.

Wind blows the white curtains.

The frog jumps; the monster came to stay

They stroke through your hair

Your nightmares rises.

And the slowly… light into your dream.

You calm down a bit, as the monsters pat you in the head.

And slowly you stop turning and tossing

As your nightmare fades away.

When brightened lake turns gold,

And the birds wake up chirping.

Slowly the monsters walk away,

You wake up, smiling,

Hadn’t that been a great night?”

I feel as this writing proprietress how the night can be so mysterious and how we really don't know much about the night.

Wow, love the end! It just brings the whole piece together. You almost wrote down all the scares we had as children and put them together into a really nice poem, it was a pleasure to read it!
