What is Red?

What is Red?

A Poem by Ralphy

Searching for the meaning of this color

"

What is Red?

Is it a mere color?
A thistle of a fire,
stoking to a rich flame,
harping with passion,
escaping
into the elasticity of air.

An apple,
firm,
in a tight wrap,
compressing all its
juices towards the center
of its pod, with desires
and hopes, to explode
through the crafty
web of fibers,
splashing you taste buds.

A tomato,
soft, squishy,
tangy not sweet,
lost in a world
of fruits and vegetables,
wondering if it belongs...
who’s color
is the most influential
of the red family.

A rose,
a respectable flower,
with pedals dripping
of natural
red ink,
opening and closing
while sending messages
towards the heavens…
come, sniff me,
see me,
feel my color
and let it flow
through you.

For a blind person
cannot see this
color we call red,
without words of
magic, to share
the buoyancy of heat,
rolling sweetness
and tangy sauce…
but most of all,
the beauty, transcending
in a fine fragrant,
evaporates from a petal

the message is received,
red is a color,
intended
just for me.

Red is definitely your color, Ralphy. I'm more of an amber/liquid gold. :)
