9.0 on the Richter scale

9.0 on the Richter scale

A Poem by Ralphy
"

To figure why I wrote this poem is to know why life exist.

"

The night air is quiet, as gentle as the cool breeze can be

The moon hovers above, lighting the small wonders for all to see

Bats fluttering, filling the air with acoustics that rattles the drum

A frosty beverage sliding down the throat, making the body frigid and numb

Critters echoing along the shore as eerie sounds shiver the skin

Waves splashing turning the sand, how you wish you had a friend

Polished rocks glittering in the mysterious light, revealing a humorous path

You follow it, weighting the chances to discover, as you hear a cannabis laugh

The foliage thickens as you disappear in the forest dingiest just south of total black

Creatures jumping, your heart pounding, as the ground opens, just a crack

Shaking vigorously as your feet dance a rhythm, while your eyes sling open wide

It becomes obvious to you; the ground is shaking as you lose sight of your stride

Fire below, singes, as the heat release drifts up, unexpectedly to your nose

Time falters as you pull out your pen, scribbling, writing your last prose

The low ripple shakes your wobbling legs as the rocks tumble, releasing the brittle shale

I should have known better, I should of heeded the warnings,  as the needle pegs, 9.0 on the Richter scale

It is surely a nice write. Be careful of your spelling- It's Richter not ritter scale.
