She stands there as a spirit silently watching over him Sorrows and miseries doomed his charming face grim Love for flesh, blood and the mundane hallowed his life Struggling for survival made his wanton life petty and strife She mercilessly watches him enduring his miseries Casting curses and dark spells are acts of her furies Vengeance and contempt smoking through her eyes Looking back at the past she curses the agonizing sore ties His friendship and support once he called it compassion Her one-sided adoration converted into hurtful obsession That unrequited love sparked a consequence so dire She embraced death to be a specter of revengeful desire She had forgotten her love and duty towards her loving kin Loving her deeply became those poor souls' biggest sin Their tributes to her flow as funds into charitable institution And her spirit still longs for the burdened man's retribution

Your message paints a scene that I've seen a number of times . . . a woman gets into a bad relationship, she's abused & cries on other people's shoulders, but when people finally rally around to help her get out of that bad situation, in every case, the abused woman goes back to the bad guy. This is what I learned about such situations -- the abused person may be in a bad situation, but it's the EASY choice . . . the bad guy may not treat her well, but he takes care of everything. I would hate being with a person who controls everything, but some people don't feel adequate to be able to direct their own lives & they've been brainwashed that they need the bad person to do that for them. They don't mean to hurt others . . . they just don't believe in themselves . . . that's why they can't take freedom when it's given to them. It's a tough situation to deal with, no matter what side you're on. I appreciate that you write about these difficult aspects of life, without simplifying anything, showing the difficulties in full clarity.

Sometimes heartaches or unmanageable for many and become obsessions. For them it is love. Human beings are so so complex.. What is common is the pain people undergo for various reasons.

It must be hard for families to watch their children caught up in obsessional situations. It can bring about feelings of anguish and helplessness. While he, or, she, who is caught up in the obsession, can only see things from their blinded eyes. Yours is a very moving poem. Thank you for sharing it.

All consuming, obsessional love, a more universal theme than many might think.

There is a fine line between normal love and obsessional love and unfortunately there are many in this world that fail to balance between this fine line. The end result is always negative and at times can border on becoming frightful and dangerous.

This is a very deeply written work. Very well worded with just enough pathos amidst the menace to invoke stronger thoughts and emotions in the reader. Especially those that have been touched in some way by this kind of love.

I loved everything about this write. People commit suicides because they fail in love without thinking about their families. I loved the way you presented this tragic tale of a love. I especially liked the last stanza a lot.
