Elvis the Elephant Rides the Bus

Elvis the Elephant Rides the Bus

A Poem by Baz
"

Elvis the Elephant rides the bus to school

"
Elvis is my elephant. He hates when I'm away.
And so he rode beside me on the bus to school today.

Now elephants are not supposed to ride upon the bus,
So Elvis travelled in disguise to look like one of us.

He wore my father's running shoes to look like he had toes,
And wrapped a scarf around his face to cover up his nose.

He got my brother's woolly cap and tucked his ears beneath,
And pulled his sweatshirt collar up to minimise his teeth.

He wore a pair of glasses so you could not see his eyes,
And donned a baggy hooded top to hide his mammoth size.

He tucked his tiny little tail inside his dungarees,
And slung a coat across his legs to hide his hairy knees.

My elephant was good as gold and things were going nice,
Then Becky opened up her bag and showed us all her mice!

When Elvis saw the little mice he nearly died with fright,
He charged the bus from front to back, the left side to the right!

He crashed against the windows and then much to my surprise,
He bumped and jumped and shook so much that off flew his disguise!

The driver saw what we had done which really made him mad,
And so he sent us home from school and telephoned my dad.

My father was so angry that he almost couldn't speak,
And me and Elvis elephant were grounded for a week.

So do not make the same mistake - obey this golden rule:
Don't EVER take your elephant on the bus with you to school!

This is sooo cute! And there is a humor to it as well, it is definatley a creative poem that is fun to read and children would enjoy listening to as well. And the length is very well suited to a child, but I must say that I enjoyed reading it and I am a chile of lets say 20 something :) Very very well done, I loved this piece! I will absolutley be visting your page whenever I need a lift or a story to grab a smile! Loved this in its entirety!

I'm never let down by your one-of-a-kind humor Baz. Yes, I still get a smile each time I read one of your poems. It's always a pleasure. With each poem you write, you always leave an image on the readers mind of each scenario you create. 100/100.
