White Flag

White Flag

A Poem by BeautifulHoliday
"

Wrote this when I wanted to surrender

"
There are so many things
in this world
that are white:
tissues
paper
wedding dresses
teeth
soap

All pure
before they are stained from life.

bloody tissues
inked paper
yellowed wedding dresses
rotten teeth
filthed soap

The white flag
isn't really white.
You don't see
my pure desire
in that white flag.

You see
blood
tears
forfeit

          no sign of a fight.

It's not that I don't want
to fight,

it's that

          I can't.
