One Moment at The Cross

Let’s take it back to just one moment, one moment at the cross,
When Jesus our Lord and Savior gave His life as a living sacrifice.
He was sent before Pilate and Herod, no fault could be found in Him,
He never once tried to defend himself, as the crowd yelled, “Crucify Him.”
He suffered pain and humiliation all for the sake of man,
He took on our sins, by His stripes we are healed,
He even calls us friend.
Let's take it back to just one moment, that moment at Mt. Calvary,
He carried His cross was beaten and scourged
He was nailed upon a tree.
They continued to mock and torture Him,
they drove nails through his hands and his feet.
Still suffering pain and agony
tears of blood streamed down His face.
Let’s take it back to just one moment, one moment at the cross.
When The Heavens began to tremble and roar,
the skies grew darker than ever before.
Let's break it down to just one moment, one moment at The Cross.
When man couldn't kill Him, the grave couldn't hold Him, the ground began to shake.
The stone rolled away, the prophesy was filled
The Son of God rose in three days.
As I reflect upon that moment, the Crown of Thorns He wore for me,
I have to pause and ask myself, what do people see when they look at me?
Does the light of God shine through me, does it draw the lost and broken to His feet? Does it make them want the gift I have, The One true God who came to set the captive free?
Some may think I’m crazy. You can call me a fool if you please. But by faith I see my Jesus He wears a crown of victory. He wears a crown of sparkling jewels fit perfect for The King.
Can you see why I love Jesus? It's because He first loved me.
Just break it down to that one moment, one moment at The Cross. When the blood of The Lamb was spilled on the tree and The Son gave His life for you and for me.

Thank you so much Kathy for taking the time to reread my work. It's my hope that it was able to speak to and touch you on a spiritual plain. I've tried several times to rewrite it so it would flow better in some places but I always came back to the original. It was just a real personal experience for me that turned out to be life changing and life saving.
I haven't been writing lately. I've been battling illness and it seems to be sucking the life out of me right now. I just can't seem to write. But I will however, read some of your work and take my mind off of my battle. Thanks again for the review. 😘

I re-read your "One moment at the Cross"
It is good to revisit what is important. Our Savior desires to sustain us. He does this so perfectly be making His deity one with us by becoming one with our human frailty. It is and was the only way. Our identity is now totally held within the safe and long term identification of Jesus in us and we in him. We must enter and identify with His death and sacrifice. Sin is the imprint of death and Jesus is legal way out of it's consequence. We are here on this earth and in these bodies for so little time. You have a wonderful gift in your writing. Bless you and this time I really took a little more time to study your poem and give it a higher score.............Blessings to you. Kathy
