I Saw Salvation

I Saw Salvation

A Poem by Aquatic Chocolate

I saw salvation in a bookshop,

Stroking the cracked spines

With painted fingernails,

Her eyes thick with words,

Saw birds circling overhead

Apostrophe the sky,

And late that night, watched

As her hands sharpened to a point

The moon, an ellipsis

With which to separate the stars,

Laughed as she joyfully flung

Words and space into being,

And with a playful tip

Of the nib, sent black ink

Sprawling across the rustling sky.

On my pillow, nothing sleeps

But salvation

And a sky

Full of words.
