Six Shots In A Barrel

Six Shots In A Barrel

A Poem by Miss Marie Riorden.
"

"Sittin' in this room playing Rushin' Roulette. Finger on the trigger to my dear..."

"

She stands in this room

Gun to her head

Finger on the trigger

Wishin' she was dead

Six shots in a barrel

All loaded in sync

She couldn't miss now

She doesn't even blink

Precision is the key

Shaking in her arms

The gun is trembling now

Brain setting off alarms

She knows that it's stupid

Suicidal at the least

She falls to her knees

She can't pray to the priest

Now on the floor

Knees scraped and burned

Gun is lowering slowly

The tide of depression turned

Finger on the trigger

She longs to be alone

No longer important to them

Hearing empty cheerful tones

Pointing it to her chest

Six bullets is all it takes

She could fire them one by one

None of them are blanks

Fear takes over hope

The gun back to her head

She'd rather have it this way

She'd rather be dead

Six shots in a barrel

All precise and deadly

Emptied into her head

None were blanks apparently

Rushin' Roulette in this room

Now it has been played

The result of insanity

The mind of the girl was frayed

This is a great piece that gets played out daily in our world. Suicide is in the news everywhere. Though I do not condone the act, I too have been to the very edge on occasion and have been lucky enough to survive. It is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. All things in this life can be fixed... excepting one Death. You can overcome all else, but Death is final. If you or anyone who reads this is close to this point, then seek help because life is a long amazing frustrating but fun ride and one should embrace it to it's fullest.

Wow. I don't know what to say except that this was some really good writing. I really liked how you voiced her internal struggle- the lowering of the gun and then raising it again. It makes me sad though.
