I'm Hungry

I'm Hungry

A Poem by Byron Patterson

I stepped outside for my evening cigar.

I looked upon the setting sun

As it shown upon me,

And I could hear the neighborhood children

Gracing my ears with sounds of laughter.

I tapped my cigar against my tray

Smiling as little ones played below me.

Satisfied, I blew my smoke upon the air.

“honey, is my dinner ready” I called.

That's soothing. Those calm evenings; recklessly passing away the time playing under the setting sun...does bring back memories. Well done!

i am particularly fond of this poem...it reminds me of my youth in NY...the childhood in the 50's when life just seemed simpler...less chaotic and technical.

a sunset...playing hopscotch on the sidewalks..
and watching the world from our five story apartment window.
