The Inner Self

The Inner Self

A Poem by Lina Grey
"

I had to share it with class so I might as well share it here to. I've got nothing to hide.

"

I am an open book.

Not quite.

Though my insides are just as clear

As my outsides in the dark.

I love to play and joke and sing

And make sarcastic remarks.

I love adventure and being free,

Though regulations are always nice.

I'm a total hypocrite, no matter what.

I'm somewhat stubborn, somewhat not.

I love to read and draw and write

Fiction and animals and stories or poems

I'm easily distracted, And easily confused…

What was this about again?

Though I'm really more than just a joke,

So please don't call me stupid.

I'm smarter than I'll ever let on

Because I hate high expectations.

I don't expect you to understand me

Because honestly I don't think I even do.

Just respect me as an equal

And treat me like a friend.

I'm not an open book.

Not quite.

I love the honesty in this poem!
The imperfect traits you have described, make it as real as it can be.
A wonderful poem.
