A Woman's Life

A Woman's Life

A Poem by Belle Morte

The three phases of a womans'
life are beautiful and in
the end complete.
From being the granddaughter
to becoming the grandmother.

As a child,
the world is at your feet.
Nothing can harm you.
When you learn otherwise
you are on your way to womanhood.
You come to realize that despite
what you thought,
you do not know everything.

And then you become a woman.
With head held high,
you walk out to meet your destiny.
You learn that the lessons you learned
as a girl
were a necassary evil.
You know that your dreams
may not come true after all.
But then you find the one
who reminds you what life is
really about.

By crone-age you are
proud with the
scribbled "I love you" from
one of your grandkids.
You still go out of your way
for your friends,
your joy know no bounds.
