Love = Death

Love = Death

A Poem by Belle Morte

The stage is set,
the script is known by all.
The audience is hushed,
the cast is waiting
with bated breath for the
two lovers to take their lives.
Little do they know,
the lovers have changed
the end.
Their love now ends
in a deeper betrayal.
They do not end their lives,
but he ends hers.

The audience is in awe,
in sympathy for her.
The cast is shocked.
A tear trails down
her face,
as her heart is breaking.

The classic love,
they thought to change,
still ends in tragedy.
She will die,
her heart is gone,
shattered at their feet.

He leaves her there,
alone,
to die.
She looks after him,
unable to speak.
She falls back
onto the floor,
her arms
outstreched towards him,
silently pleading for him
to return to her.
Hoping against hope,
that it was all a mistake.

There is no sound.
Everyone is watching,
waiting,
as she dies.
Though they do not hear,
on her final breath
are the words,
"I love you".

wow! what an excellent piece, the stanza's are great and magnificently connected.the imagery (out of this world) depicts a play like scene, the suspence as it engulfs the reader and the audience alike gives the piece a splendid touch.i see more of a romeo and juliet inspired piece of writing but however the type of ending that will leave shakespear profoundly awestruck and speechless.probably when he manages to get the words all he would have said was '' good heaven, nay thou are a great writer" and no doubt in the 21st century poets like kurrupted will applaud and say "damn, this s**t is the bomb"lol!

Whoa ... this is full of fantastic imagery, it seems so real. The beginning kind of reminded me of Romeo and Juliet for some reason. Simply amazing!

Beautifuly tragic, I loved it. I could see it all beeing played out on the stage in my mind, and I really felt the harsh emotions and reality of it all. Excellent!
