Good ol' days...A life behind bars

Good ol' days...A life behind bars

A Poem by BBP

The good ol' days.....
When souls were lighter
When the sun shined brighter

Van Morrison floating on the air waves
Creedence giving a voice to the red, white and brave

Bikers in denim vests
Doin' their worst and givin' their best

Sleeping under open skies
Filled with smoke and lit by stars

Highway wind showing the way,
to finding freedom behind bars

Chasing sunsets,
Chasing glory,
Now, only old photographs can tell the story..........

Of the good ol' days .....
That the OG's miss
and the young guns crave

Good ol' days...A life behind bar the title itself very different and unique.

Chasing sunsets,
Chasing glory,
Now, only old photographs can tell the story..........

Beautiful lines......

😛 'cauae you got trumped lol jk 😂😂
To quote John Kay;

I like smoke and lightning
Heavy metal thunder
Racin' with the wind
And the feelin' that I'm under

The good old days...Assassinations...riots in the streets...Vietnam...the Summer of Love...Kent State...Woodstock.

CCR said 'better run through the jungle'. Just never said where the jungle was.

What made them what they were was the fact that we were young and everything was new to us.
Life was an adventure.

From 'Born to be Wild' we've gone to 'Born to be Mild'

Did we change the world? If we did I'm not sure it was for the better.

Good write. BBP

There's bullshit in every generation. your's wasn;t simple it was just less diluted.
your poem brings me back ...all that devil may care bravado turned to much gratitude to have survived ...mostly intact ;) love Van and Creedence and many more for sure ... interestingly the strongest part of this poem for me is in the title "....A life behind bars" and in the poem "...finding freedom..." there ... so very much of life and freedom belong to the mind alone ... sure enjoy the remeniscing by reading your poem ..very nice trip ;))

I seem to recall that the good old days involved a lot of near-death experiences! But we all still crave that adrenaline rush. :)
Nicely done. You recreated the atmosphere very well.

Thanks Iron! It was a time worth going back to!
The good old days help build today's. When we are young we are brave, when we are older we grow cautious and less brave and wiser.
Nice one. Thanks.

Those "Good ol' days" nearly killed me; spent much of my youth in front of bars and gathering scars.
Last two stanzas sum it up rather nicely.
Enjoyed the read, B!
