Condensation

Before you, I thought I was safe
all tucked and swaddled inside the cocoon.

Before you, I didn't cry for an hour
dancing for two just to track back over again.

In the after of you, I'm left wanting for
the yesterdays of this funeral for friends.

In the after of you, I dropped my skin.
and tossed it out with the rest of the lies.

In the morrow of you, I'm knowing now
there's no safe place.      There never was.

In the after of you, I dropped my skin.
and tossed it with the rest of the lies. Very strong lines.

Jason would love this. He was a very fine person & I communicated with him often.
It sickens me that someone so passionate and bright has gone away. He would
be honored by your tribute. A great consoling hug to you.

What a tragic ending. Although, we saw it coming with the back track after 2am dancing... nothing is safe, but we must trudge forward endlessly hopefully - helpless as we are, we wouldn't be safe anywhere really would we?

and beyond the bristles of dead skin, new life waits anew.

you're not safe, he was a hoax.

Your tribute is stunningly beautiful - much like you.

simple, straightforward, vulnerable, real...i don't think you can ask a poem to be more than that, or if you do it becomes artifice...ed

This is an excellent tribute piece. I like the continuity of linear time portrayed in the write as well.
