In The Rain

In The Rain

A Poem by Birdman313
"

When it rains sometimes it's only in my world

"

As the rain begins to fall all around me,

The clouds collapsed touching the ground.

So do my tears, as they roll down my face,

A half smile trying to come alive but can’t,

Hanging clouds sometimes in broad silence.

The stars are racing out front before the darkness,

Through the clouds they appear to shine.

If the ground could swallow me whole,

Then the rain would no longer wash away my troubles,

As the rain begins to fall all around me,

The clouds begin to roam.

Whether you know it there is a long history in the blues of rain-as-tears or rain-hides-tears, not to mention the great songs by the Temptations and the Dramatics. And now this! But through the sadness there is still the hope --

"The stars are racing out front before the darkness,
Through the clouds they appear to shine."

Nice write.
