The Lonely Wanderer

The Lonely Wanderer

A Poem by Lovecraft
"

A "Man" travels the world, observing everything, both good and bad.

"
I Wander throughout halls of life, my eternal vigil.
My travails have left me destitute of compassion,
For I have witnessed all of what humanity is capable.
I have been present for the greatest triumph's,
And for the worst defeats of this place.
I have felt Hope and Despair, Joy and Sadness throughout my wanderings...
The depth of human feeling has dulled my mind,
To the point where I feel nothing but nothing,
And I begin to wonder what I'm doing here.

I've wandered the earth for centuries,
Experiencing everything it has to offer.

Perhaps I have no place left here, wandering aimlessly,
Perhaps I should move on to somewhere, anywhere,
But here...

Nicely penned. It's very easy to feel lost and exhausted in life, especially with the way society often is. That's why I always focus on finding good things in it, and if I can't find any, I try my damnedest to make those things myself! Every line of this poem spoke to me in a very relatable and powerful way, and overall, I greatly enjoyed this true piece of writing. It's ironic that empathy can be the thing that makes us feel apathy, isn't it? :)

You are welcome Lovecraft.
Wow i really liked it. Especially this "I have felt Hope and Despair, Joy and Sadness throughout my wanderings..." Life's experiences are wonderful we can learn from both good and bad experiences. They also shape the people we are.

Vampires, come to mind. Being eternal (and Frankenstein; because I believe the photo used is on the cover of one of Mary Shelley's books).

Nonetheless, I feel, Frankenstein's monster sums this piece up, given he's gone through exactly this...(although, not sure if he is immortal though... don't think so). So a cross between Frankenstein's monster and a vampire.

Interesting write.

Much love,

Frankenstein is quite philosophical, such as this piece it only seemed natural.

Any being tasked with such a job - to watch and record and not act would surely feel so completely disillusioned and hopeless for mankind. The only thing we've learned is how to kill more efficiently.
I bet this is how the angels who walked among the biblical towns Sodom and Gomorrah felt.
There's no hope in this one.

cool one Lovecraft.
:)
Life on earth is mostly full of dissillusionment and pain and how long can we go on. The poem speaks to me of a soul maturing, reaching a saturation point where it outgrows this world. Much appreciated...

A nice poem about wandering through life, witnessing "the greatest triumph's" I feel like this could describe The Doctor in some ways.

Very deep.

May be something which everyone can relate to. In search of something beautiful we fail to notice the beautiful moments we crossed.

Never settling for anything, at some point we miss the best in everything we crossed-by but never lived in.

Wonderful write..
