Valentine

Valentine

A Poem by Blake Q Hatfield
"

This was the first ever Valentine's Day poem I wrote.

"

Be my Valentine dear
For this is the season of hearts
The endless flowing of emotion and serenity

I've been waiting for this emotion to arise
Nothing could prepare me for this magic of nature
To see and feel the effect of beauty
The power lies in the eternal hearts of the innocence of life
But it is realized within the minds of mankind

What is this feeling?
The perception of anything in the realm of possibility
There is no fear of tomorrow, but anticipation
My heart races toward the thoughts of great joy
My heart races towards you

Time has no meaning in this realm
This emotion cannot be clocked
It has no quantity or space
It is the existence with that special someone
Knowing that there is nothing better than the moment
That there is nothing but to be
To be with you

Only music permeates my ears
I hear but the beauty of your sight and sound
Thoughts abound my world
Of beauty and grace
Of serenity and peace
Of nature and an endless world
Of everything, of you

Valentine dear and tender
Valentine of the beautiful daylight blue
Show me this one sign of magic
And declare yourself my Valentine true

Author's Note

Blake Q Hatfield
I actually wrote it for someone, made a card at my college's Valentine's fair, put it in the card, and never had the guts to send it to her. I still have the card as a reminder that sometimes you have to take the risk on love, it's not always easy to make things a reality. Ever since then I write aleast one piece for Valentine's Day. My most recent one, Lady & Lad, is posted. Hopefully I'll get around to putting the other up.

This is truly beautiful and straight from the heart. Your precious feelings post quite well on paper and your words...

I really love how you rounded out the last sentence here and in the other stanzas. I'm sorry she never got to see this. I understand how life and feelings can differ. This is a beauty, for sure! Excellent.
