Demon's Play

Demon's Play

A Poem by Angel
"

Was having a very bad night, so I started to write and... well here's the end result.

"

In the dark,
I wait to find,
the absence of light,
the “other side”

Of this calm earth,
of this serene place,
I turn away from you.
and see a different face,

The dark is what eats me,
the demons that creep,
and since I am alone,
I cannot sleep,

My mind is filled,
with death and decay,
it seems in my dreams,
the demons play,

They twist the image,
of you and me,
they make me see,
And I wish to flee,

They make me see your black,
your bad and your worse,
In the absence of light,
All life is cursed

In the darkness,
the demons devour,
and I am helpless,
overpowered,

I wait for the dawn,
the shedding of night
to see a new day,
and to end my fight

For I will not live,
to see another day,
if the demons come back,
and want to play

I really enjoy the distortions you make use of, especially in the second verse. Doubt and fear can really tear at a person and this poem deceptively and beautifully notes that. I hope to read more of your poetry in the future!
