Hiding

Hiding

A Poem by Christian Bonoan

The night was dead but we’re so alive
we lived the night full of sweet bliss
but the lights were there to catch us alive
to cage us from the freedom we possess

Once we’re known, they’ll all thirst
for they love talking about the story of us
we should hide, since our lives were cursed
from the eyes of the people around us

We ran like animals from hunters
for our lives that they want to devour
hunters, oh they know no manners
they only care for their so called power

We know places to hide from the light
as we see the light from the window pane
and we loved each other ‘til the morning light
over again until we’re all insane

I thought the poem was excellently done. The message is bold; it gives two lovers something they can live for, each other. Then the eyes of people who want to take that away from them stare them down. Well-done!

Very lovely poem, Christian. I could imagine two lovers who wanted to be alive but were cursed from the eyes of the people around them. The last stanza is beautiful.
