These Dirty Sneakers

These Dirty Sneakers

A Poem by Chris Lotus

I never was and never cared about being cool
Never thought grass stains and mud make you a fool
Had people laughing once I walked in the school door
Tracking Georgia red clay all over the floor

You could never tell me what to do
Never wanted to be anything like you
Never wanted to fit in with your crews
Pick on me again, i'll mud and scuff up YOUR SHOES

Never was ashamed of walking in raggedy shoes
Blocked out all the talking
Your shoes were made for flexing
These shoes are made for walking

............And you actually thought I wanted to roll with YOU?

Oh, you mentioned Georgia clay! I'm in Georgia :) Nicely written though. I was never one to worry about my shoes. My shoes would be old and covered in dirt because I love being outside and being active. People who worry over their shoes annoy me, lol. Nice job portraying this thought.

hahahaha... what a unique idea. who would have thought of that? lol.. i really enjoyed the confidence and the scoffing attitude. i liked the way you used a simple thing like dirty sneakers and made me think that YOU were cooler because you wore them. Awesome!
