When You Close Your Eyes

Do you dream of me laying at night,

Struggling with the past candlelight.

Do the memories haunt you deep,

As you fight to fall slowly asleep.

So far away I hear you call to me,

A love past moment our insanity.

Miles away in a land so apart,

Two lovers trapped by the heart.

Time and hope struggles to remain,

From separation we must restrain.

Maybe one day our worlds collide,

Till then keep dreaming our divide.

I absolutely love this!! I have felt this so many times-the yearning and the struggle to be close to someone far away. I am in love with that last line about dreams being the divide. This piece really does expertly convey the aspect of a long distance romance and the conflict between rationale and emotion. Great writing!
