Break These Chains

Break These Chains

A Poem by Jordan Avechuco

They say life is a competition,

More like a game of cat and mouse.

You fight your whole life,

Just to die in the end.

They tell you to live freely,

But none of us are truly free.

It's time to take back what is ours,

It's time to take back our freedom,

Our dignity,

Our lives.

And run these decaying streets,

Tear down our oppressors,

and take back what they have stolen from us!

Leave them with what they gave us,

Nothing.

Give them the nothingness we felt in our hearts each and everyday of that terrible existence.

Let them feel our pain!

Take my hand,

Brothers,

Sisters,

My Family.

Allow me to lead you to the freedom we deserve,

The lives we were meant to lead!

Spark this revoution,

And burn these walls down!

For we are no longer alone,

And never shall we be again...
