Kraken

Kraken

A Poem by Jordan Avechuco
"

Sink.

"

Looking down this empty beach I see the vast emptiness of our lives,

The fake smiles,

The late nights,

The fights.

Torn are the pieces of my soul that cared for you,

Sometimes I wonder why I bother, I doubt that you care too.

It seemed our lives could carry on forever that way,

That way we loved,

The way our hearts beat as one,

But that was when we were young.

Your truth flowed through me like a ship on the sea,

But your lies are what sunk my ship and drug my body upon the shore.

Upon the shore to watch your vessel sail on without me,

And now I say to you, "Happy Sailing."

For I care not where you go,

I am just happy that you're gone.

And on the day your golden ship of lies is destroyed,

You will know that it was the kraken you created.

I will toss you this cold broken soul,

It may just keep you alive,

But I wouldn't count on it...

Bitter departure expressed with a neat monster. It is very true to say that the kraken will get those that are overconfident while they sail the ocean. Another comparison is the Titanic. I liked the mythical meld.
