Freedom In Exile

Freedom In Exile

A Poem by Jordan Avechuco

Your soft voice,

Meant to be heard only at close range.

Filling my head with your lies,

Lies of love and happyness.

As if such things existed.

Many nights have I stirred,

Destroying my mind,

And exhausting my emotions,

All for you.

No,

No longer can I stand by and allow you to rip me limb from limb in this this struggle for power in the name of "happiness."

I can't take it anymore,

I won't take your s**t anymore.

I'm severing the ties,

Breaking the chains you hold upon my wrist,

Ripping out this heart and spraying its blood upon your so called purity.

Scream, yell, shout,

Shout at me all you want,

I am no longer listening to you.

No more will your walls hold me,

No more will you claim my soul.

I am free,

And I have left you behind..

A fantastic piece that expresses the feeling of being free from a bad relationship so well. Great job! (Grammatical note: You misspelled the first happiness in your work.)

Thank you for pointing that out.
Awe, this was such a sad poem, but I believe everyone suffers through this in life. They need to get away from the person that is killing them the most. Hurting them more than it needed to be. I loved the piece. I could relate, but I believe everyone would though. Thank you for sharing.
