Love is a Scary Word

My choir teacher said "love is a scary word" Of course she didn't realize how i had taken it, since she was speaking on choral terms... so i wrote a poem about it :)

He's holding my hand

And whispering words

My heart skips a beat

how can i be sure...?

Is this what i want?

Does he mean what he says?

Can i trust all these words

Crying out in my head?

It's only four letters

Just a few simple sounds

But together as one

They flip worlds upside down

Whenever i hear it

My brain stars to whirl

Are those bells in the distance?

For this boy, and this girl?

This word... It means paradise

But can drag you away

It controls you, sweetly holds you

When off his tongue it plays

That word, the most common

But least often meant

Its confusing... yet moving

Full of sentiment!

Should i say it back?

I can't if i don't mean it...

But what if he hates me!?

I need this relationship...

He leans in close

He's said it, i'm sure

I don't know what to do

~ Love is a scary word.

Yes love is a scary word for sure and you can't always know if the person saying it really means it or if they are just trying to manipulate you in some way. Also if you feel pressured into saying it back you might say it before you know for sure how you feel. For such a small word it is so huge, it can move mountains and destroy hearts in seconds. Awesome Write I love this.

because once its said their is no turning back
Its either Pleasant or broken
