Perhaps you need to google the word "mining onsetter" . We were learning to be onsetters and we communicated with bells.

We were learners and we all had to learn them. We did it together. We talked in rings, we thought in rings and we challenged each other in rings. Two for down, one for up. Three for men. Four for Stuff.

 

Long and short meant F**k You.

 

The test was about rings and we all pasted the test. But I never had to work with the rings and I am happy about that.
