Goodbye my old friend

Goodbye my old friend

A Poem by Boy of the red
"

A poem to my dear friend Jackson. Departed but not forgotten

"
Oh how I miss you,
I miss your words,
Running through my ears,
Promising it will be better,
Promising I will always be ok,
Promising you will always be here.
But you left me.
Only your words and my memories remain.
I still miss you more than ever.

Oh how I love you.
I still love you.
When you were here,
We were more than friends.
Closer than brothers.
Loved each other more than just lovers.
You were my hope.
You were my heart.
You were my life.
You were....everything.
Now your gone.
I still love you.

Oh how I must let you go.
I will never forget you.
I will never forget the words you spoke,
The way you made me feel safe.
The way you defended me when no one would.
You will always be in my heart,
But I must go with what you said in your final words.
The last words you ever wrote.
Written in a letter,
Found on your hanging body.
I cried for years.
I still do .
But you told me I would find another.
Another who would make me happy,
Even more than you did,
If I only held on.

I held on my friend.
I held on.
You were right my friend.
You were right.
She has made me so happy.
You would have loved her and been so proud.
She protects me and I protect her.
She keeps me from the terrible habits.
She makes the horrible thoughts and voices stop.
I can finally be me again.
She makes me so happy.
You would be happy to see me now.
I've done so much.
I've helped so many people just as you told me too.

You will always be in my heart.
You will always be on my mind.
But there is another just as you promised.
I love you my old friend.
You will be in me forever.
Hopefully you are in a better place.
Goodbye my friend,
I am happy now.
I am finally....happy.

Nice; and I totally get it. I'm in that place, too, but my lost love didn't take his own life; it was taken from him. He didn't love me, either...he was in LIKE with me, but his heart belonged to another-- lucky woman!
I enjoyed your poem, though, and I applaud your attitude.

This is thoughtful and well looked through, each journey through writting is a journey through oneself. This is just lovely. Absolutely lovely.

That is a very nice saying. Thank you very much
A truly beautiful piece. I have seen the effects of this situation, and they don’t always turn out well. I am glad you have finally found some peace. I wish you and your girl all the best. :)

Thank you! I really wasn't sure about the ending
This is such a sweet, moving write. Letting go of the ones we love seems to be the definition of life itself (at least my life), and it absolutely scours the heart like rusty steel wool. You can't avoid it, and it never gets easier, no matter how much practice you get. Life sucks . . . it just beats the alternative
Your words truly do come from the heart. Thank you for this poem

the ending was just right....and your welcome
I actually teared up a bit by the end of this... :)

Parts are so subtly bold (I know that soounds weird) that they evoke strong emotions from the reader. I'm sorry about him, but glad you have her. :) She'll take care of you. Great piece.

This is so touching to me, I almost teared up a little bit there at the end (which is hard to get me to do) this was unfiltered and that's what made it so special.

Best part ever. Flowed amazingly well.
This whole poem gave me chills and goosebumps, best one you've ever written.
A lil rough around the edges, but with some effort, you have award winning stuff right here.
XO.
