Help me...

My heart's cry

God
Help me
I'm breaking here
My heart slows, fading
My eyes grow ever darker
I am not concerned about others
I am feeding only myself
Selfishly ignoring their pain
I am lost
Without love
God
I'm numb
Slowly becoming stone
Deep beneath the waves
I reap what I sow
I have despised my brother's pain
Now I cry and am in need
Do I not deserve your silence?
I did not reach out
to help those hurting
But I'm alive
Still breathing
God
Forgive me
Let me repent
There's still a chance
Let me turn from myself
Let me turn and love others
Not just a single deed or act
But to make love my life
Make it who I am
Save me from myself
Let me Love
Help me
God

Author's Note

I used a rising and falling scale for this poem... not easy given the emotion behind it and the fact that I just wanted to breech the dam and let it all flood out
