Soldier

Soldier

A Poem by Brianna

Glistening stars, gave them hope for tomorrow
Winding winds gave them whispers of sorrow.

Rolling hills of green jungle grass,
Soaring birds over ocean mass.

Bombs rain down,
gunfire pours all around.

The end is near,
but not this year.

Tears run down broken faces,
Silence throughout many places.

Tombstones planted in the ground,
Nothing makes a sound.

Where they are buried forever, or never found.

The poem told the truth. Dead Soldiers make no sound. Old graveyards are sad and solemn. War poetry is hard. The live soldiers want to forget. The dead soldiers we need to remember. Thank you for the excellent poetry.

I loved the reality throughout the piece and. I especially loved "Tombstones planted in the ground, Nothing makes a sound, where they are buried forever, or never found" Makes us think about all the soldiers that have fought and that have died for us. Great poem Sunshine :)

Love your bff

Really Kryston? Sunshine? -_- Anyways thanks for the comment I appreciate it :)
Simply put in the lines of this one...you express what matters about the struggles...soldiers must endure and at times lay down their life for the cause...

i love the harsh reality of this poem as it persuades you to keep on reading the words you have written make the poem even more beautiful and i find the structure for a poem of this nature and length, keep writing because boy is this good!! :)

As a vet I can say that I loved this poem. You spoke of honor and solemn graves. A soldier lays down his life for a belief. It is something bigger then himself. Buried all over the world are men that gave all for that belief. Great simple and deep poem.

A neat rhyming poem. Is this not true of life in general? Most of us die without leaving a sound behind!!!
