SWEET GOODBYES

SWEET GOODBYES

A Poem by Brian Kraklau

Everything begins as a fantastic obsession

As a crazy fairytale like creation

A leap of love,

Nothing more

A break down in the thought

As hands reach out from the floor

Waiting for the cook

Resting by the book

As he took another look

Into your eyes

Into your eyes

Into your world

That I had mistook for sweet goodbyes

I could have burnt your world

Leaving it as the fire swirled

Burnt to rubble,

Nothing more

A few scattered embers left

Ready to fade out to the core

Waiting for the cook

Resting by the book

As he took another look

Into your eyes

Into your eyes

Into your world

That I had mistook for sweet goodbyes

So now we sit here amongst ashes

We turned our backs to these lashes

Chains on our feet

Nothing more

Running out of here on hopeful winds

Like ashes flying out the open door

Waiting for the cook

Resting by the book

As he took another look

Into your eyes

Into your eyes

Into your world

That I had mistook for sweet goodbyes
