Your masterpiece

Your masterpiece

A Poem by Brinja Keelake

You've painted me to a masterpiece
You've sculpted me to a work of art
Once I was rough,
Blank,
Waiting to be moulded with love,
Devotion.
Now the people stare.
They wonder at my creators name
But my plaque just says "unknown"
You've turned me into an art form
And left me on my own.
I'm stared at,
Marveled at,
And the people "ooh" and "ah"
Where are you to accept the honor
Of the beauty of your work?
I see you in the shadows,
Watching the people pass and wonder,
Watching the people see your work
And wonder at my beauty.
You stay behind until the dead of night,
Just watching from the dark,
But when the people have all gone
You come out once again
To admire my beauty,
Your skill.
You take me in your arms once more
And keep me till the dawn.
