Curtains

Curtains

A Poem by Skai Rain

When the crowd begins to rise.

How I make you laugh, how I make you cry.

This is my reason to try.

I need somebody to love me

And oh, how you love me when I sing for thee,

It makes me breathe.

If it wasn't for you I would be dead,

The only time I can escape the voices in my head,

Is when I'm making you live instead.

So I will work my a*s off to see you smile,

I will starve for just a while,

And I will push my body until my mind goes wild.

This industry is my hell, but your applause is my heaven.

My hidden confession is that your approval is my obsession.

It is worth all the torture, starving, and bleeding of this profession.

So let the curtains rise so I can for once feel a human love.

And let me be happy with this one stressful moment of fluff,

Cause when the curtains fall it will never be enough.

First off...i love your bio quote! ok...now that that's over..haha this is so great! It's like we never feel good enough unless we make other people happy and also that if love has to be earned and we have to fight for it we will, even when we know it's not the best thing, we're addicted to the applause. Amazing piece!!!

Thank you :)
To perform and to enact, ultimately to convey emotions to a public so they get to know. Such a tough thing been exposed out in the open. Is not as if you can pretend either, acting is such a tough proposition. I have only done a few plays nothing serious and I thought it was so difficult. I like the colour metaphor used here as if the chamelon trying to adapt to blend in. Certainly a must need quality in acting. It seems the performance makes you alive and the exchange with the public nurtures you.
The wrtings is conveyed with a certain fluidity and honesty even humble tones that makes it appealing and easy to approach. The rhyme sems a little to friendly for me quasi at risk of making light humour. Not sure if intended.

But what a skill to have...

Thankyou

Thank you very much.
A brilliant poem about the human performance. I'm not an actor, and I couldn't be one. But I'm sure it's pretty hard, harder than people realize. Anyway, this was a great read. Thanks for sharing.
