The wise man.

The wise man.

A Poem by Brittney
"

Based on a dream I had.

"
I remember
When the wise man I knew, I knew
But had never seen before
He came to me and bowed
My flesh ripped and torn
But he didn't mind
He didn't notice really,
He just came to me as a friend
And led me on my journey

He said child it's your time
Go off into the darkness and fly
Your free to soar with these strong
Wings I've given you

But when you take a breath
A single slip of air into your esophagus
You shall not fly no more
Go child, you will soar

I stared at him as he disappeared
Bewildered, Confused
My flesh was ripped and torn
No wings were given

But I went as I was told
To the darkest land this place could hold
And as I stood there on the earths hard gravel
I knew, I knew

The rush of the ocean, the brisk chill of the wind,
the moon beaming down on lonely sand,
the stars gleaming in the night sky,
the quiet hoot of an owl in the distance,
It all made sense

I understood,
I took one last breath

I flew, I flew

Awesome so glad you enjoyed thanks so much!
A poignant dream, indeed. From suffering endured comes greatness. Enjoyed this read.

I love the intensity of this piece; I could barely wait to get to the end, and it finished so perfectly! Good work :)
