Nihilistic Existence

Nihilistic Existence

A Poem by Broken Serenity
"

A poem about the depression caused from having to exist within this painful world and trying to make your escape from it.

"
The truth is that life goes on
The river of time sings it's eternal song
Leaving the unheard whispers to reflect
Reflect on the emptiness they lay among

Hollow eyes and a fresh noose tied
Bitter tears never cried

The truth is that love and pain are synonymous
What you get is a draw out of a magician's hat
Love can hurt and you can hurt to love
I guess I can find some wretched version of pleasure in that

Hidden emotions locked up tight
Slowly loosing the will to fight

The truth is that nobody cares
Scream out, even louder, as loud as you can
Be greeted by silence while drifting in the dark
Terror barreling towards you like air from a fan

Lungs uselessly grasping for air
Eyes fading to a lifeless stare

Author's Note

Broken Serenity
The italicized stanzas are the big thing for me here. Do they work or should they be deleted? I think both the italicized stanzas and the regular stanzas could both, respectively, make their own individual poems and have their own tone. I would like to know how you feel about the matter. Thank you!

I love it! I feel bad because I realized I don't know how to rate the stories/poems for the contest.
