Joan of Art

Joan of Art

A Poem by Asante.

And they call me the poet..

You unearth gates to
versing words into attachment
better than I'd ever hope to might.

You first became,
en route to someone you'd become;
a disease of the heart I cannot fight.

You ran it all,
a leash to gauge a steadfast world,
trust issues arose to swallow you.

Your burning Rome
of pill potholes and vodka roads,
fishtailing through the veil of control.

Angels aren't angels if aware,
gimmicks serve to grope in search of motive,
soulless so you're sold devoid of purpose,
you're the art so long as you deny it,
you're a heart of hurt and painful findings,
only hopeless--

But they call me the poet.

Had to click on it as soon as I saw the play on words in the title - and I'm so glad I did.

Such a clever piece of writing with stunning metaphors and comparisons. Words that you get lost in and find a part of yourself in. The kind of writing that inspires other writers.

Loved every word of it.

Powerful write! Great words and you hold heavy meaning behind them in whole. The 2nd from the last stanza is so powerful and yet so smooth. Loved this!
