Red

Red

A Poem by BrynnaW.

The color of a child blushing from embarrassment,

Blood from a desperate, wounded man,

A rose's delicate petals that represent the change from anger to love,

And the curtain's of a show that's just about to begin.

The color of cherries that hang as a pair,

Lipstick that shows beauty in a kiss,

The dreaded Red Queen and her playing cards,

Or a burn from the sun.

The color of a heart that is delicately handled,

Or of a rare hair color,

But most of all, Red supreme over all others.

Ok, I only made this poem because a friend on here wanted me to write one. I am no good at poems in my opinion but she really wanted me to. Review honestly as this is my first poem.

This is a really awesome poem. I love the color red and like how you displayed it here with your imagery. The only thing that stood out for me was having the word 'color' appear in the last 3 lines and that followed by the word 'other.' For me, it disrupted the flow of the poem because of two many of the same rhyming words so close together and not all at the end of a line. That's just my opinion. I really do like the poem.

And thanks for the review you did of my work! Much appreciated!

Your details are a vivid masterpiece in every word by word. They give this reader a marvelous backdrop that makes it hard to look away from the screen or in my case blink because every word composed within is like magic.

i like it good poem. though if you do continue to write poems, and from this i think you should, you should put more emotion and feeling into each poem. thats what really MAKES the poem, not just a bunch of red things. dont get me wrong i enjoyed the poem. just something to keep in mind :P keep on writing

A nice description of the color red. I really enjoyed this. When I think of red, I think of a Dutch song which is truly horrible. But this was amazing and I loved it very much. Well done.

i like the repetition of the words "The color of" starting off the three stanzas, i see the repetition there, and i don't think you used the words too much, it's just enough... this is a great poem for being a first, i think you should try you write at more. :D
i loved the comparisons you used on the first 2 lines, really nice.

Another very good poem. I agree with Star Wolf though, you use the word "color" a bit too much, and if you took some of them out it would really improve the poem! I love the reference to the Red Queen, and I love how some of your lines contrast each other from sweet to scary, like the first two lines. Well done! Definitely enter both colour poems into my contest!
