For Angelo who died in a motorbike accident. I met Angelo on Myspace, and he was such a lovely human being, always giving, happy and cheerful.......many times we talked of our motorbike dreams, and one day to travel across the USA.......free from all of life's troubles.I miss his happiness, and all those wonderful italian messages.
A little piece of me broke today
Although my eyes
Did not travel in your direction
Or settle upon your face,
I do remember your smile
The sweetness in your giving
Your thoughts on living,
Mostly being free
Told me
My beauty ran deep
When I felt so ugly
Inside and out.
Sharing wonderful dreams
Across plateaux's of America
Zipping through great mountains
Backpacks neatly stacked
Refuelling the dream as
I cling to your back
Safe in friendship
We won't turn around.
Wind licking my face
Tugging my knotted hair
Leaving that life behind
Sun caressing the air
As we sped across vast
America
No shadows to tilt
Or storms to shelter
We got rid of the umbrella
Swept up in laughter.
Small words Lei è bel dentro e fuori
That raised a smile
In the sadness of my hour,
Offers of a holiday
To feel safe in friendly arms
You gave Always
Your Italian charm.
I saw your face today
For a moment
And remembered the dream
Now it's broken,
Underneath we shall fly regardless
Where men in their flying machines
Keep steady pace with our speed
We shall be flying Never dying
Through streets of dreams
On the road to heaven
Where you have gone
Just a little before me
With your Italian charm.
This is a stunning and heartfelt tribute to a friend who died tragically. Blessings to you on this day. I am certain he is smiling to see you write such beautiful words in his honor. I am afraid I had a similar experience with a motorcycle accident written in a poem for a young boy I saw on the road. Today, is a day of remembrance and you have done just that in prose that is exquisitely related. Thank you for sharing so much of yourself and your love for your dear friend. Blessings and healing.

Wow... I really like the emotional depth that comes across in this piece, and I love the little bits and pieces of your friend that show through your words. My favorit part - "We shall be flying/Never Dying". Absolutely beautiful...
You did mention 'Italian charm' a few times and it seemed that it was a bit repetitious, since it wasn't a constant theme throughout the entire piece, it was a bit distracting, but that's all...
This peom made me remember a passed love. It's like i can feel exactly what you did when i read this poem. The onlything that hellps these sort of things is time. good luck:)
I am so glad that you included french in this, it made it even more beautiful than normal! It's beautiful and heatfelt! I'm so sorry about your friend.
What a touching tribute to the relationship you shared with your friend. May memories help you smile through the tears. Just gorgeous - imagery, emotion, everything! Lydia
well, a couple things:
1) that is the coolest picture i have ever seen.
2) the imagery and language in this is completely breathtaking (as always =))
3) what does "Lei bel dentro e fuori" mean? i can guestimate the general implication but i have no idea what it actually says
Wow, I'm so sorry for the loss of your friend. I love this fine poetic expression of loveliness.... intertwined memories and dreams.... it gives us a glimpse into your life with him, and shows us the preciousness in which you hold him in your heart. I'm sure he's already received his copy in heaven, and is smiling at the thought of you. This makes me want to go on adventures.
Blessings...Peace and Love,
Cat
The beauty of the hearts you touch with your words is moving. Reading the reviews on this poem brought tears to my eyes. You have made each person wish they new your friend or at least a friendship like it. Each review is like a tribute to friendship within a tribute. Lots of love and sorry for your loss.
So, I write.... I'm a Scorpio.....A Jersey CI bean, with complications in life that were never expected. Some say I am over emotional, I say I am just more aware. I believe we all have a gift, i.. more..
