Sun Dried

Sun Dried

A Poem by Bubo
"

This came from my mood recently, its how I imagine being cleansed might feel like, who knows?! Some journeys just seem so long with no answers.

"

The burnt sun gazes upon her feet

While the breeze envelopes her defeat

Ghosts of the past linger behind

She imagines, lazily waving

Caressing the borderline of her mind.

“They don't know me” she thought

“I slipped in, slipped out, a shadow, cross to bear, nothing lost, nothing gained”

She stared ahead

Inhaled deeply, exhaled releasing fragments of souls

Trapped within her for so very long

The breeze inhaled, tipping furiously

And with a mighty exhale blew those souls out of earth,

The bleeding stem of her heart choked

Freeing shattered shards long since broken

All that had been unspoken spoke

Through the pores of her skin

She freed the tainted sin within

That soaked the hardened earth with new life

Cleansing deep cuts on her crippled feet.

She lay naked

While the sun instructed the moon to halt

The wind gathered her up

Blowing warmth through her bones.

Her eyes gazed into the sky

“It's not for me to wonder why” she sighed

The sun dried her eyes

“No tears, my dear, the heart can never die,

Nor can we deny what we wish to crucify,

We must learn when it is simply time to say goodbye,

And unify the lost child waiting inside. ”

When she awoke, sun had gone, the wind slept

But the moon blazed, smiling down at her shape

“Get up, child, you're going to be late”

“But the journey is so long, and the road so wide” she cried

“But you have been blessed, now you are sun dried”

She rose, like a magnificent tide, glorious in life.

How cathartic such an experience must be! The heart can never die... Sun dried just creates new flavor, and it is a form of preservation. Excellently executed, my dear!

This is wonderful. I have tried to write like this for many years but as yet have not obtained your level. I read a lot of pomes each day and this one today has given me delight. Can I ask you why you used "of her mind" in the fifth line. I would have thought it understood. It could be for balance and if so I might be out of line for asking. "Sorry!" The image in this work is so great that I should understand where you are going. My daughter who is over looking me read this says that parts of it remind her of the times she had when she lost a child in cildberth a couple of years ago. She likes the way it flows as do I. Very good read.

Beautiful imagery throughout this piece. I like the way you paint captivating portraits through the use of words. Not only that, but this piece is mesmerising.
