Unbroken Friendship

You will always have a special place inside my heart.
A place that renders kindness, warmth, tenderness.
But it seems to me we’ve drifted so very far apart.

I knew the day would come that we’d part ways…
Though I dared to cling as long as I could,
It’s hard to let go of a rainbow that lights darkened days.

Yes, inside of my heart you will always reside…
You’ll always be that flicker of light twinkling,
Encouraging to keep true to this thing called life.

For it is life that is tugging us in different directions,
Consuming any extra time that we might have to share.
I will never forget you, your sentiments, your affections.

And I will always keep an eye out, an ear open,
Just in case your greetings should fall my way
Once again, in the distance of a friendship unbroken. <3
