BLACK GIRL

BLACK GIRL

A Poem by xxxrawr_friendxxx
"

I am absolutely SICK of being talked down to because of race, especially by someone that is no better than I am. As a non-binary gendered, non-hetero black woman, things get rough sometimes.

"
we walk down the streets
confident, pride in our step
hand in hand
as the eyes flicker to us,
creep away slowly
and back to us
"did you see them?"
i whisper
you assure me it's probably nothing

i am a minority.
i never understood fully
what that meant.
it means
i cannot love who i love
without getting looks
or uncertainty
or disgust
you sit in your houses
on your computers
and you say,
"racism? that so 1960s."
and while you're doing this
im out, standing up
for daily f*****g life.
i haven't done anything wrong
yet i suffer from the soft statements
"he must have jungle fever"
"look at that 'oreo'"
"how did that black w***e land him?"
"nothing but n****r p***y"
AND IT HURTS.

IT HURTS
it stings
like a thousand bees upon my chest
and the stings never go away
you don't know
because it's never happened to you
you can't know
because you're white.
i am privileged
as privileged as a BLACK woman can get
i take what you throw at me
and i make the best of it
but my love for someone
who has it a little better than me,
solely based on skin,
will never end.

On the another end of the spectrum, I, too, am a minority and can understand the pressure of everyday life when there is constant prejudice acting as adversity against you. Well-expressed frustrations.

Get some balls there's racism throughout the world it's almost human nature at this point to demonize other people for being different. Sure it's repulsive but it's the nature of the beast. Get used to it

That a tough spot to be in. You've done nothing wrong but looked upon as though you have. Stay strong and be you.
