Echoes In The Night

Echoes In The Night

A Poem by *~*Butterfly Kisses*~*
"

Following the death of a loved one.

"

Lost in the memories

Watching the shadows on the wall

As they play and echoe,

In this place you once lived.

It is hard for me to comprehend

Though somehow I can understand

Life does not go on forever,

We can never be immortal.

Loved ones pass on,

And live within our hearts and minds.

But still my heart is broken,

As long as the echoes still live on.

My world has been haunted

With the cries and whispers

Of the ones you have left behind

Like ghosts searching for their souls.

Roaming through this dreary house

Wishing for the peace of these lonely souls.

Peace that will never come...

Until they know where they belong.

I still try to move forward,

Keeping my head above the water

Taking it one step at a time

As we lay your soul to rest.

Maybe now, these ghosts can move on too

And soon find their peace,

Then the echoes and whispers can stop.

And I can finally get some sleep....

Wow, how amazing is this one of you.... I love the last stanza as I truly recognize these words you capturing here. All words are coming out of a kind of spiritual package, beautifully penned into your words on this sleepless Dutch night. Very recognizable as it is for me, Thank you for sharing, Into my favorites.

Hard to be where life and family was strong once. I enjoyed the description. Made the situation come alive in vision. No weakness in this poem. Thank you for a excellent poem.

We belong to one another, even if we do that briefly. That might be how we move along. Losing a someone we belong with, slows it down. A poem on the seasons and our relations with them - human style!

It is always so hard for the loved ones of those who leave us behind in this world. It seems to always rock us to the core, even the strong are shaken. I could really feel the pain in the writing, so to speak. It is slightly dark, broken and dripping with yelps of pain, so, obviously a good poem then. Great work.

certainly the ambiance you create is deeply illustrated through the movement of words intricately placed to create the stage for thought and fluid emotional expression~
