A Woman's Work

A Woman's Work

A Poem by Carrie Montgomery

I do the work of many with just two small hands.
Oh, if my lot in life were that of a man's:
A man puts in a day and comes home to rest-
Never is his day off anything less!

My work is thankless and payless and never-ending.
And my paid vacation? It's always "pending"!

I am a Mother, a chef, a plumber, a wife.
A handy man and secretary.
A teacher, a nurse, a physician for life.

From sun up to sun down-
It's on-going for me:
I'll never worry about job security!

haha: womb envy-I disagree. Just ask a guy who has had Kidney Stones-He has felt sometihng close to labor pains!

This is so true! I have lived my life this way while my husband sits in his easy chair and watches televison.
And he wonders why I complain so much.
