The Final Judgement

The Final Judgement

A Poem by Chaitanya Nirantar
"

This one's for a rather interesting contest. Forgive me if this seems dark, it's just heavily influenced by all that's going on around the world. It pains me that all I can do is write about it.

"
I wish I had a chance to change
The way you looked
At me;
You, my father,
With eyes so disappointed
They burned my skin like
The dusty wind before
A storm;
You, my mother, with
Your hands trembling
With anger,
For all that I could
Never be;
You, my lover,
With a hint of a smile
So disenchanted;
As though you were
Finally free.

I wish, as I breathe my last,
That I could change
Every face you showed,
Every thought you had,
To one of love
And prayer
That wouldn't kill me,
But set my soul free.
