Where I'm From

Where I'm From

A Poem by Caliona
"

Just a poem about who I am and where I'm from.

"
I am from flip phones from Nokia and LG.
I am from mountains
A backdrop behind my house
It was intimidating, beautiful
I am from Joshua Trees and dirt
The color was nearly nonexistent
I'm from homemade fudge on Christmas and a chaotic family
From my mother and my grandmother and my brother
I'm from distant relatives
And hate
From a cruel marriage and a diverse family
I am from equality and love
From the time my great uncle went to war
From the stories he told of Japanese culture
To the time he passed
I am from poetry and books
I am from silence and hope
